Kiprusoff Gets 4th Shutout this Season and 1st Star

Last night Miikka Kiprusoff of the Calgary Flames recorded his 4th shutout of the season when they beat the Ottawa Senators 2-0 to get his 30th win this season. He was also named the first star of the game turning aside all 33 shots that came his way.

"Guys are paying the price and that's what you have to do if you want to win games like this," Kiprusoff said. "If you block a shot, there's not going to be a rebound and there's no scoring chance."

"We had some great efforts from guys blocking shots but Kipper deserves a lot of credit for this win," Mayers said "Kipper made some huge saves and kept us in the game when we weren't playing very well."

Kipper now sits in 3rd place for GAA at 2.18 and a 5th place for SV% at 0.924.

Kiprusoff Takes Bronze at Olympics

Miikka Kiprusoff said he wouldn't be coming to the Olympics unless hes the number one starting goalie. After Fridays loss against the US where Kiprusoff let in 4 goals on 7 shots, we were unsure if Kipper would be back between the pipes for the bronze medal game against the Slovaks on Saturday. They started Kipper and he really payed off. He played stellar where he turned away 19 of 22 shots in their 5-3 win over Slovakia. Overall Kipper had a great tournament and it will be one that he will never forget.

Miikka Kiprusoff Has Been All The Difference

Calgary Flames All-Star goalie Miikka Kiprusoff has been making all the difference this year in his teams win loss record. Kiprusoff has been playing at the top of his game in and game out, this is exactly what the Flames need.

So far this season he already has 1 shutout, 11 wins, 4 losses, and 2 overtime losses. He has posted a stellar 2.40 GAA and 0.921 SV%.

Even Kiprusoffs teammates are saying that this is the best that they have ever seen him play. "This is the best I've seen him play in a while," defenseman Robyn Regehr said. "The best I've seen him, other than '04," center Craig Conroy told the Calgary Herald. "Probably the best I've seen him play since he came here."

Even other teams coaches are talking about his performance. "One of our best games of the year," groused New York Rangers coach John Tortorella after Kiprusoff's 32-save performance in a 3-1 win on Nov. 7. "The difference was Kiprusoff."

"I think you could say we dominated much of the game," grumbled Toronto counterpart Ron Wilson, after watching Kiprusoff slam the door with 38 saves in a 5-2 win Saturday at Air Canada Centre, "but there was too much Iginla and too much Kiprusoff.
