Marc-Andre Fleury Out With Minor Injury

Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury did not practice Friday in Vancouver and is day-to-day with a fractured left ring finger.

The injury occurred in the Penguins' 3-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday. Fleury remained in the game and made 33 saves on 35 shots to pick up the victory.

Fleury, 24, has appeared in 41 games this season for the Penguins, posting a 25-14-1 record to go with a 2.60 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage. His 25 wins rank fourth in the National Hockey League through Friday.

Team Canada 2010 Olympic Goalies

The top 5 Canadian goalies got a tryout for this years 2010 men's Olympic hockey team. They were: Martin Brodeur, Cam Ward, Steve Mason, Marc-Andre Fleury, and Roberto Luongo. On Wednesday they had to make their final choice and narrow it down to the top 3 netminders. They decided to go with Martin Brodeur, Roberto Luongo, and Marc-Andre Fleury.

They all put on a great show at camp but those three goalies have been a little better this year than the others.

Martin Brodeur: 27 Wins, 2.14 GAA, 0.922 SV%, 5 Shutouts

Roberto Luongo: 22 Wins, 2.27 GAA, 0.920 SV%, 2 Shutouts

Marc-Andre Fleury: 22 Wins, 2.58 GAA, 0.905 SV%, 0 Shutouts

Marc-Andre Fleury Leading the League in Wins

With a total of 17 wins in 24 games, Marc-Andre Fleury of the Pittsburgh Penguins leads all NHL goalies in the wins column. After playing amazing in the 2009 playoffs and taking home the cup it seems that his performance has only been going up. He has posted a 2.45 GAA and 0.905 SV%. Usually after a team wins the cup their not as good the following year but it seems that every year that passes by Fleury just keeps getting better and better. I sure hope he can keep this up so he can give his team another shot at the cup.

Goalies Battling For 2010 Olympic Spot

There is a lot of talk about which goalies will be picked for the 2010 Team Canada Olympic spot. It seems that they have narrowed it down to 5 goalies. These goalies are Martin Brodeur, Roberto Luongo, Steve Mason, Cam Ward, and Marc-Andre Fleury. All five of these goalies have their pros and cons.

Martin Brodeur- He has a lot of experience and has led Team Canada to a gold medal before. Some people say hes past his prime and getting washed up.

Roberto Luongo- He has a couple of gold medals from Team Canada Experiences and has always been playing great but this season he hasn't proved anything yet.

Steve Mason- He led his team to a gold medal at the World Juniors and won rookie of the year. He has proves himself to be one of the best in the NHL.

Cam Ward- He has one gold medal with Team Canada under his belt and has always been reliable but not so much this season.

Marc-Andre Fleury- Marc-Andre Fleury has always been great in goal, he has 2 silver medals with Team Canada and since winning the cup last year he has really been playing well.

All of these goalies are great goalies and it would be very hard to pick a specific one. I think that they all have an equal shot at making the team.

Marc-Andre Fleury Takes Home The Cup

Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals would broil down to goaltending. Marc-Andre Fleury of the Pittsburgh Penguins comes up huge in the 2009 Stanley Cup playoffs. There is no doubt that he is one huge reason for the Penguins to take home the cup. The performances that he was displaying was incredible. It didn't always seem like it to the media. Often they would speak about a bad game or a bad goal and not really give Marc-Andre Fleury any credit. If he had a good game, all the glory would go to Crosby and Malkin. If the team played bad, it seemed that the problem was the goalie.

Fleury is a well deserving goalie for the Stanley Cup. He has such a drive. Even down 2-0 in the series he had a positive attitude and he didn't quit like most goalies would do. He kept battling game in and game out for the whole playoffs. For such a young guy, I give him lots of credit. He has awesome mental toughness and is so fast which is one of his keys to success."I've played with him a long time, and he's developed as a goalie," Pittsburgh defenseman Rob Scuderi said. "But I think mentally he's gotten leaps and bounds better." Now from seeing Fleury in the playoffs for two years straight, its obvious that he is a great playoff goalie and plays calm under pressure.
